Chicken With Plums

After what feels like an eternity, Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud have re-teamed to bring the world another vibrant, cinematic take on Satrapi’s family history. This time, Satrapi veers away from the graphic style that made her a comic autobiography icon and directs live-flesh actors in this quirky, visually-stunning adaptation of her graphic novel Chicken with Plums.

The film, like the graphic novel, tells the story of Satrapi’s great-uncle Nasser Ali-Khan, a master violinist who loses his will to live after learning his violin has been damaged beyond repair.

Chicken With Plums is slated to come to select theaters on August 31st, a doubly fantastic day for memoir-lovers.
